Emmanuel Esomnofu (b. 1999) is a Nigerian writer and culture journalist whose work spans music, literature, visual art, film, technology, and more. With a keen eye for storytelling and a deep appreciation for history, his writing explores the intersection of contemporary culture and historical context, offering readers fresh perspectives on the world around them.
Esomnofu’s journey as a cultural voice has seen him interview and profile some of Africa’s most iconic figures, including multiple Grammy-winner Angelique Kidjo, Afrobeat legend Femi Kuti, visual artist Anthony Azekwoh, award-winning poet Romeo Oriogun, rugby sensation Beno Obano, and soul singer Asa. His storytelling has earned him recognition across the continent, with his work appearing in leading platforms like Brittle Paper, Afapinen, and Lolwe.
In 2023, Esomnofu was named one of the ‘30 Under 30 Power Players in Nigerian Music’ by Turntable, and in 2024, he won ‘Best Writer of the Year’ from The Republic, one of Africa's premier cultural magazines. His role in the Umuofia Arts and Books Festival, where he was part of the planning committee and a guest for its first two editions, highlights his commitment to promoting creative expression in Southeast Nigeria.
Beyond his work in journalism, Esomnofu holds a BA in History & International Studies from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. He continues to explore his love for fiction, poetry, and other creative forms, building a legacy as one of the continent’s most dynamic cultural voices.
